The word servant is not very appealing to most of us. What comes to mind is that it is a low position requiring a certain amount of humility to take orders from someone else, the master. Throughout history there have been servants and slaves. Because of the nature of the material world, most masters have not been persons I would be happy serving.
When I hear that I am the eternal servant of god, I apply what little I know of the reality of servant and master in this world, and it doesn’t feel like something I want to be a part of.
We are all servants whether we admit it or not. The wife serves the husband and the husband serves the wife, friends serve each other, the factory worker serves the boss, the politician serves the voters, the enlisted soldier serves those of higher rank.
This type of material service is based on lust, what reward do I get out of this relationship? The master feels that he is not given enough service, the servant gets fired. The servant feels his compensation is inadequate for his service, he quits. The husband believes his needs are not being met, he divorces the wife. The wife feels neglected by the husband; she gets a new one.
Service between servant and master is rarely based on love within the material world. It is a business proposition, this for that. All dealings within the material world are between the cheaters and the cheated. I can make you happy, I will protect you, I love you, are all expressions of this cheating propensity residing within everyone fueled by lust.
I am trapped in the dilemma of lust; my master who I serve blindly and who always cheats me.
Persons in service positions usually have some experiences that seem to go beyond the job itself. They may experience genuinely serving someone and feel very uplifted because the service was selfless on their part.
Doctors, nurses, military, law enforcement, paramedics, social workers, often begin their careers with a real desire to serve others. The propensity to serve purely is the natural function of everyone. It is diluted within the material world by the forces of lust and other material coverings.
Pure service to others is only possible when I am purely serving the Supreme Master in spiritual love which is completely free from lust. This loving relationship is already established within my heart although it is covered by material conditioning.
The Supreme Person is always in the position of being served, I am eternally in the position of serving Him. This service is of a completely different quality than “service” enacted within the material world. It always results in complete satisfaction and happiness; it gives the greatest reward, except no reward was ever expected.
All service to the Supreme Lord by the pure servant is an act of selfless love. That love overflows in reciprocation by the Supreme Lord and covers those who encounter the pure servant. Selfless service within this world is a taste of that love experienced within the heart. We are all searching for and craving that love.
The quickest route to be reestablished eternally in pure loving service appears within this world as Bhakti yoga, the greatest gift given by the Supreme Lord. The gift of Bhakti yoga can only be received through the pure servant of the Supreme Lord. He is the shore of the ocean of loving service and swims in that ocean himself.
Serving god transports me to His world where speaking is singing, walking is dancing, living is an unending party with the Supreme All-attractive Personality.
I am an eternal spiritual person and I do not need a material body. The eternal spiritual world exists. The majority of eternal living beings live in the spiritual world. The minority of eternal living beings exist in the material universes trapped inside material bodies. All variety we see here in the material world exists in its perfect spiritual form in the spiritual world. Everything I experience within the material universe is a reflection or a material imitation of what is eternally real in the spiritual world.
Everything within the material world is made of temporary dead material energy. All symptoms of life are due to the eternal living beings residing within temporary bodies. Time is a controlling factor and decays and destroys everything. Whatever we experience in the material world cannot remain fresh, the law of satiation applies. We become satiated with what we see, taste, hear, feel, think; it all becomes stale and old. I become bored, frustrated, angry, envious, jealous, burned out, unfulfilled, and full of fear and despair.
Everything within the spiritual world is eternal life or spiritual energy. The living being is eternal and his form is made of spiritual energy. The trees, the sky, the land, the animals, the rivers, the homes and palaces, everything is made of spiritual energy. The influence of time is absent, everything is eternally new and fresh with no deterioration or death. I am never satiated, all my experiences become newer and fresher at each moment. My love, happiness, satisfaction, well- being, excitement, laughter, friendship, enjoyment, at every moment is at its fullest, yet every moment it increases! Life within the spiritual world is unimaginable with newer and newer activities in perfect relationships.
I cannot trace back to the exact time I left the spiritual world, but by understanding it is my home, I can begin to reverse the consciousness which brought me to the material dimension. My memory of who I am, and my real home is intact, it is simply covered by the illusion that I AM THIS MATERIAL BODY. What does that mean?
I am a spiritual being and I will never, ever, be happy within the material world where everything ends in destruction and death. My amnesia of my original eternal existence is complete but can be completely cured by the process of Bhakti Yoga. This is the easiest and most powerful of all yoga. By its practice, I can return to my original position in the spiritual world.
In the material world, I am out of my element, like a fish out of water. A fish is thrown on land and it will flap around until it dies. I am in the same situation. I have been thrown into the material world and placed into a material body. I flap around for a while and then the body dies, and I leave that body. I am placed in another body for another birth and thrown on the land again. I flap around until the body dies. Reincarnation happens again and again and again. I need to re-enter the transcendental ocean of spiritual love and life.
In my current condition of illusion, I have forgotten my home, my family, my friends, my purpose, my function, my essence.
I have rebelled against the all-attractive Supreme Lord, who loves me, is my best friend and well-wisher, and who desires that I return home.
Rebellious means that I made a choice to become master instead of servant, to be a controller, to oppose the Supreme Lord in his spiritual home of perfect harmony and love, where all serve Him in perfection.
As a result, His illusory energy commanded by Maya, covered me with false ego (I am this material body, the lord and master) and threw me out of the spiritual world into the material dimension. I entered the material dimension as a prisoner for rehabilitation, always controlled by the tricks of Maya, by time, by the modes of material nature, by the law of karma, by lust and enviousness, by the wheel of repeated birth and death.
If I conclude that I am spirit, that this world is not my home but a place of suffering, then my rehabilitation was successful. I can be paroled. The condition of my parole is to take up the process of Bhakti Yoga. When I achieve the goal of Bhakti Yoga, my incarceration in the material world is finished.
Due to association with the three modes of material nature, I, the eternal living being have become entangled within the material dimension. Forgetting who I am, I eternally search for something that does not exist within the confines of the universe.
Every living being within the universe is forced to act by the influence and control of the three modes of material nature. According to his past activities he has received a different body created by the material nature. The Supreme Lord is the source of material nature and is the cause of all the manifestations of living entities within this material world.
I am influenced to act by the modes of nature in the same way the moon influences the tides of the ocean, the ocean having no power to resist the moon’s pull. I am pulled in one direction or another according to what mode of material nature is acting on me. My resultant actions are being carried out by material nature. I am dragged along for the ride, falsely thinking that I am in control, my life being on autopilot programmed by my destiny.
A prisoner within a cell has the freedom to sit on his bed or not, he can move from one wall to the other, he can decide to do different activities within the cell but he doesn’t have freedom to do anything he wants to outside of the cell. He is forced to act within the confines of the cell.
I am confined within a particular body and the cell and walls of my confinement are the three modes of material nature.
In the Mode of Ignorance, my cell is dark, the air is stale and dank, the cell is small and cramped, dirty and grimy. I am given stale, rotten food, I crave intoxicants, I smoke, and I simply want to sleep and dream, I am despondent, lazy and mad. I am homeless.
In the Mode of Passion, my cell is a mansion, I am famous, wealthy, arrogant, proud, lusty, my goals and desires are endless, my food is animal flesh and pungent spicy dishes, enjoyed with wine and liquors. I am driven to satisfy all my senses with unlimited goals and am never satisfied and always agitated.
In the Mode of Goodness, my cell is a beach house, clean, light, airy, stocked with fresh fruit, vegetables, grains, milk products, my interests are illuminating, I am intelligent, I feel I am superior, and I am conditioned by happiness.
“Material nature consists of the three modes – goodness, passion, and ignorance. When the living entity comes in contact with nature, he becomes conditioned by these modes”. Bg. 14.5
The living entity, because he is transcendental, has nothing to do with this material nature. Still, because he has become conditioned by the material world, he is acting under the spell of the three modes of material nature. Because living entities have different kinds of bodies, in terms of the different aspects of nature, they are induced to act according to that nature. This is the cause of the varieties of happiness and distress.
MODE OF GOODNESS
O sinless one, the mode of goodness, being purer than the others, is illuminating, and it frees one from all sinful reactions. Those situated in that mode develop knowledge, but they become conditioned by the concept of happiness. Bg. 14.6
The mode of goodness causes one to become mostly free from sinful activities and is the most conducive mode to understand spiritual truth. Conditioning by the mode of goodness results in greater wisdom and intelligence, a greater sense of happiness, and a minimum of material miseries. One is more or less free from sinful reactions and believes life is pleasant.
When one dies in the mode of goodness, he is promoted temporarily to a higher heavenly planet. This is awarded because the mode of goodness is the purest form of existence in the material world.
Currently the population of the world is mostly under the influence of the modes of passion and ignorance so people are not happy or prosperous. If a certain percentage of the population is elevated to the mode of goodness, then there is the possibility for peace and prosperity all over the world. Transcendental knowledge can bring about this change.
The goal of life is not just to be in the mode of goodness because being conditioned by this mode will result in further births in the material dimension.
The goal is to transcend the modes of material nature and be situated in my eternal spiritual position of pure loving service to the Supreme Lord. As I progress on the path of sadhana bhakti I will move into the mode of goodness and then beyond.
My consciousness is purified in the mode of goodness, I think clearly, I understand more, my suffering is lessened, my sense of happiness increases, and I make tangible progress in my existence.
A person who dies in the mode of goodness may be promoted to a higher heavenly planet to enjoy the results of his pious activities.
MODE OF PASSION
The mode of passion is born of unlimited desires and longings, O son of Kuntī, and because of this one is bound to material fruitive activities. Bg. 14.7
The mode of passion is characterized by the attraction between man and woman. Woman has attraction for man, and man has attraction for woman. This is called the mode of passion. And, when the mode of passion is increased, one develops the hankering for material enjoyment. He wants to enjoy sense gratification. For sense gratification, a man in the mode of passion wants some honor in society, or in the nation, and he wants to have a happy family, with nice children, wife, and house. These are the products of the mode of passion. As long as one is hankering after these things, he has to work very hard. Therefore it is clearly stated here that he becomes associated with the fruits of his activities and thus becomes bound by such activities. In order to please his wife, children and society and to keep up his prestige, one has to work. Therefore, the whole material world is more or less in the mode of passion. Modern civilization is considered to be advanced in the standards of the mode of passion. Formerly, the advanced condition was considered to be in the mode of goodness. If there is no liberation for those in the mode of goodness, what of those who are entangled in the mode of passion?
O chief of the Bhāratas, when there is an increase in the mode of passion, the symptoms of great attachment, uncontrollable desire, hankering, and intense endeavor develop. Bg. 14.12
When I am in the grip of the mode of passion, my life becomes full of anxiety because I am driven to provide for my family’s wants which always increase beyond what I can provide. Or, I experience broken relationships because I am just not satisfied. Or, my income doesn’t provide enough for all my desires even if I become a billionaire. I am always defeated in finding full satisfaction and I suffer so many miseries along the way.
The mode of passion makes me believe I will find happiness in my intense endeavors but the reality is that the reward of happiness is always out of reach and I am so stressed out and in so much anxiety just trying to keep it all together.
A person who dies in the mode of passion takes birth again in the human form to continue the struggle for fruitive results.
MODE OF IGNORANCE
O son of Kuru, when there is an increase in the mode of ignorance madness, illusion, inertia and darkness are manifested. Bg.14.13
When there is no illumination, knowledge is absent. One in the mode of ignorance does not work by a regulative principle; he wants to act whimsically for no purpose. Even though he has the capacity to work, he makes no endeavor. This is called illusion. Although consciousness is going on, life is inactive. These are the symptoms of one in the mode of ignorance.
From the mode of ignorance, foolishness, madness and illusion develop. We can see the effects of the mode of ignorance in a person who is considered a “loser”. Nothing goes his way, he takes shelter in drinking or drugs, his decisions are mistakes, he chases dreams but never makes any progress, he doesn’t know what to do, and he ends up homeless, unclean and crazy. This is an extreme example while others influenced by the mode of ignorance are still functioning in the lower levels of society.
In their next life, a human in the mode of ignorance will be demoted to take birth in a species lower than the human species, such as animal or plant.
The poor, addicted, homeless person ended up there by being overwhelmed by the mode of ignorance.
A rich, famous businessman attained success because he was pushed by the mode of passion.
A very wise philosopher attained his position due to his lifestyle conditioned by the mode of goodness.
The three modes of nature are created by the Supreme Lord to provide the conditioned living being with unlimited desires and unlimited actions to fulfill the primary desire: “I want to be the lord and controller” within the material dimension.
I am tricked into believing that I choose to live my life in a certain way, when in reality, I am manipulated by the modes of nature to have certain desires according to which mode or combination of modes are acting on me.
In the same way, when I engage in an activity, I am forced to act by the unseen power of the modes of material nature. I fully believe I am determining my success and failure, but I have been set up every time by the superior force of the three modes to make particular decisions and accept the results. I am not in control.
The cure which makes me immune to the three modes of material nature is the process of devotional service which purifies my heart and consciousness. I am taken higher into the mode of goodness and then beyond to full spiritual consciousness completely free from all material influence and defects. This transcendental spiritual condition is perfect goodness.
When the embodied being is able to transcend these three modes, he can become free from birth, death, old age and their distresses and can enjoy nectar even in this life. Bg. 14.20
In order to make progress on the path of perfection, I must regulate and purify my life and activities by ceasing certain activities and adding others. By so doing, my consciousness will become purified and I will be able to realize truth that is now hidden from me and that I am not currently equipped to realize.
Everyone born within the material universe is compelled to act with four glaring defects which contribute to blocking one from understanding spiritual reality:
Drinking, taking drugs, having affairs, gambling, killing and eating animals, are all glorified in the movies, in social media, and amongst each other. Not understanding the high price that we pay for these degraded activities, we live our human lives like animals instead of realizing the extreme rarity of the human form. We must use this opportunity of human life to develop our consciousness and escape from the bondage of material desires and karmic reaction which life after life simply ends in the pain of death.
By hearing the transcendental message and receiving and chanting the Holy Names, I will begin to understand that I am an eternal person, temporarily in this material body, and that my happiness can only be found in loving and serving the Supreme All Attractive Person (Krishna). The positive, purifying, spiritual practices, which I have added to my life will destroy all attraction for engaging in the above four activities and gradually give me immunity from the four defects.
When I make some progress, I naturally follow these four regulative principles because I am no longer attracted by these prohibited activities. My consciousness has changed.
In other words, to break free from the prison of repeated birth and death, my unlimited material desires and attachments must gradually be transformed into spiritual desires and attachments by following the purifying and satisfying process of Bhakti Yoga.
Bhakti Yoga is easily performed by the sincere and determined seeker of the Truth and ultimately transports one in their original spiritual identity to the all perfect, eternal spiritual world of ever-increasing loving relationships.
The most basic platform from which I can begin to make progress clearing my consciousness of the grossest type of materialistic conditioning is by hearing and repeating transcendental yoga sound. By so doing, my understanding of spiritual principles and truth will increase and then my conviction and determination to make progress on the spiritual path becomes stronger.
Simply following the four regulative principles and leading a very moral life will not deliver love for the Supreme Person to me but will enable me to more clearly hear and assimilate the transcendental message which leads to the most positive outcomes.
If I follow the laws of society then I will avoid the consequences of breaking those laws, such as incarceration, fines, infamy, etc. If I follow the four regulative principles of spiritual life then I avoid the consequences of breaking these natural laws, such as increased future suffering, loss of intelligence, degradation of consciousness, passage to hellish planets, rebirth in a lower species of life. Ignorance of a law, societal or natural, does not protect me from the punishment of breaking that law. The four regulative principles of spiritual life are there to protect and purify my life as I progress on the transcendental path out of the material dimension.
Krishna says, “To those who are constantly devoted to serving Me with love, I give the understanding by which they can come to Me”. If I reject his instruction to follow the four regulative principles (or other instructions), then I am not devoted to serving him with love and the understanding to come to Him will not be increased and I will be stuck at that place.
“A person interested in transcendental knowledge must therefore always directly and indirectly inquire about it to know the all-pervading truth”.
Spiritual emancipation begins with self-realization: Who am I? Why do I exist? What is my purpose? Why am I controlled by forces outside of me? Why do I suffer? Why is my happiness fleeting and temporary? Why do I have to struggle for existence? Why do I face death?
Why do I ignore all these questions or fail to find honest answers?
Death always finds every living being regardless of their social position, level of intelligence, power, wealth, determination, or species. Every event, emotion, relationship, fear, activity…experienced between birth and death is seen and known.
What is seen at death and after? Are there answers that are absolute and unchangeable across time, regardless of changing civilizations, religions, and philosophies?
The sun rises and sets, unchanging and constant.
Absolute knowledge is unchanging and constant, now, a million years in the past, a million years in the future, in every universe and planet, in all circumstances and for every unique living being.
Natural and Spiritual laws can be ignored, defied, and broken, but never defeated as the resulting reactions are invincible and always carried out.
Wars, hurricanes, earthquakes, famine, disease, and all calamities and sufferings are examples of resultant reactions from breaking these infallible laws which govern the material dimension.
The opposite is also true: prosperity, peace, beneficial and regulated climate, abundance, happiness, are examples of resultant reactions of knowing and following the natural and spiritual laws that govern the universe.
Beyond the good and bad results, the pain and pleasure, the birth and death, the order and chaos, the heavenly and hellish conditions, the unrelenting control of cruel time, exists a place completely devoid of all these material conditions of duality and suffering.
The only requirement to enable anyone to come to the platform of perfect understanding is a sincere desire to humbly receive this transcendental knowledge descending from that eternal place where the only law is perfect love.
The human form of life is suitable for inquiring into and understanding the science of Bhakti Yoga which breaks the bonds of material reaction and results in the perfection of existence.
Trapped on the insurmountable wheel of birth and death, no solutions are possible to be found within the speculative minds of all the intellectuals, philosophers, and “religionists”, who for all time have struggled and failed to understand Spiritual Truth as it is.
One who has seen the truth enlightens those sincere living beings who are genuine seekers of truth, releasing them from the temporary illusions of an unending cycle of birth ending in death, and mistakenly called “life”.
Anywhere and everywhere on this planet earth, among individuals, families, cities, states, countries, and societies, regardless of the species, controllers or dominators exert their power. Similarly, universal controllers manage all the forces acting on the planetary systems within the confined universe or prison of birth and death.
Every eternal living being in the material universe is imprisoned in a material cell (the body, mind, and intelligence) and is allowed to move about the prison (the material world), ironically feeling “free”, not realizing that the death sentence has been pronounced and is simply waiting to be carried out. In the penitentiary this same situation places the person on “death row”.
Nobody in their right mind desires to spend their life in prison, yet every living being is trying to enjoy their endless imprisonment in the material world by incessantly attempting to find happiness where no real happiness can be found. Surviving incarceration life after life does not equal true existence.
The solution revealed by those who are enlightened takes root in the heart of the living being when received by aural reception. This pure transmission of transcendental knowledge emanates from one who has themself received it from the pure source.
The conditions of our true and actual existence are eternality, full knowledge, and ever- increasing spiritual happiness resulting from the most intense, satisfying perfection of our loving relationship of service to the most perfectly attractive Supreme Being.
To begin and culminate this journey of uncovering one’s original identity, position, and function, the path of Bhakti Yoga stands supreme. When faithfully and sincerely followed, Bhakti Yoga transports one from enduring the suffering of material life to the world of unending and ever expanding spiritually perfect relationships.
These eternal relationships unfold like the petals of the Lotus flower, blooming with unlimited varieties of intensely pleasurable activities in the mood of servant, friend, parent, or lover with the Supreme Attractive Person.
In stark contrast, the embodied living being tastes disappointment, frustration, anxiety, and anger while trapped in illusory temporary relationships of this world. Each of these relationships, built over a lifetime, generates uncountable attachments which cause immense suffering as the living being is cruelly forced from the useless body at the time of death.
This false position of identifying oneself with a temporary body made of matter reduces the pure and eternal living being to a state of ignorance referred to as “false ego”.
As the sun rises, crosses the sky, and then sets; similarly, the living being enters the body and is born, crosses the expanse of life, and then leaves the body at death.
What then is the body? The body can be understood to be a machine made of matter, energized by the eternal living being and utilized to interact with other embodied living beings in a counterfeit attempt to imitate the activities of the spiritual dimension.
All such attempts end in complete failure because matter and material activities are temporary by nature. The living being is eternal by nature and meant to exist in the eternal spiritual world complete with all varieties of spiritual forms, relationships, and activities.
When inhabiting a material form the living being endeavors to enjoy life. Having forgotten completely his spiritual form and identity, the living being mistakes the machine made of matter (the body) as the most important person in his life (me!)
Very few persons approach the Truth with an honest desire and determination to openly receive the greatest gift of love that can be given: to be raised to the transcendental platform of eternality, complete knowledge, and perfect unending ever-expanding love and happiness in our uniquely perfect relationship with the Perfect Supreme Person. This is the true goal of life, achieved through the process of Bhakti Yoga.
All bodies of all living species within the universe have life due to the eternal living being present within that particular body. From the controlling administrators of the universe down to the smallest germ, all are eternal living beings trapped within that material body.
Life after life, the false ego, the modes of material nature, and the control of the illusory energy or Maya, relentlessly condition the living being. This conditioning forces one to accept the material body as himself. I forget my true identity as an eternal person, while temporarily incarcerated within a material body, within a material universe.
Consider this situation. I am an eternal person from the eternal spiritual world, full of knowledge and happiness. Transgressing the singular law of spiritual love due to envy, I have been thrown into the material universe with absolute amnesia of my eternal identity and life.
I am now covered with the conditioning or ignorance that whatever body I am forced to enter I fully accept as “myself”. My underlying desire or motivation is to be lord and controller. I have been placed in the material universe to imitate the Supreme Lord and Controller who I have turned my back on.
From this point, being completely illusioned and under the control of ignorance, I accept body after body, life after life. Driven by my conditioned consciousness, I am struggling for existence and the pursuit of happiness in a place where invincible laws and energies have been enacted to perpetually defeat me.
Endlessly searching for this illusory happiness within the world of matter, I am cheated because I can only be satisfied by spiritual happiness which exists outside of the material universe. Material energy or the material world is masquerading as my original spiritual home.
I am an eternal spiritual person with a spiritual body and a spiritual home complete with loving spiritual relationships. I do not need a fake material body, fake material relationships, fake material enjoyments, and the fake carnival of material existence.
Everyone is simply being lied to and cheated, and in turn, lying to and cheating others.
If I accept a lie as the truth, not realizing it is a lie, then I have no problem passing that lie onto others. All cultures and societies within the material universe accept the underlying lie “I am this material body”.
Covered and impelled in all activities by this untruth, the embodied living being wanders throughout the material universe from body to body, planet to planet. There was a song that defines this fruitless wandering: “I still haven’t found what I am looking for”, and another “I can’t get no satisfaction”.
“I am this material body” is the first lie covering the living being’s awareness or consciousness as he descends into the material universe. This lie is referred to as false ego and makes it possible for the living being to repeatedly cycle through the wheel of birth and death because material life seems to be the purpose of existence. It most definitely is not.
In the condition of being dominated by false ego, the living being is also manipulated and controlled by the illusory energy of the Supreme Lord known as Maya.
Each conditioned living being is further handicapped by four defects: I make mistakes. I am illusioned. I have imperfect senses. I have a tendency to cheat.
I am also forced to accept suffering caused by: other living beings, my own mind and body, and natural disturbances and disasters.
Maya presents endless, irresistible, alluring and seductive plans for enjoyment that promise fulfillment, satisfaction and happiness. Attracted, attached, and bewildered, the living being is again and again betrayed and ends up lonely, frustrated, angry, and helpless against this onslaught of Maya.
After countless lifetimes cheated by Maya, the fortunate living being will begin to question why happiness is so elusive and suffering so pervasive, and then will seek help. If he is most fortunate, he will be led to the truth which begins with: I am not this material body or mind.
Dissolving the conditioning of millions of lifetimes of false ego, material habits, attachments, and the abusive illusions from Maya is only possible by sincerely embracing and following the transcendentally purifying path of Bhakti Yoga.
On this path, I receive the mercy and the unconditional love of the Supreme Lord as soon as I open my heart to Him. The control of Maya is gradually withdrawn as I surrender to and follow the instructions of the Lord and I taste spiritual love which I have always been craving and searching for.
Further progress dissolves the false ego and I become immune to and free from all material conditioning. Ultimately, I am given the realization of my original identity and form and am reinstated to the perfection of my eternal position of loving devotional service to the Supreme Lord.
I have returned to the spiritual world, and whether or not I am still temporarily within a material body, I will never again be covered by false ego and be forced to assume another material body.
God is the ultimate best friend, the most fun, the funniest, the Supreme Loving Person, the most Lovable, the Father of all, the best well-wisher, the easiest to relate to, the most forgiving, the most intelligent, the wealthiest, the most beautiful, the most powerful, the most creative….
He is the Original, Supreme, Unlimited, All-attractive Person. The name Krishna means All-attractive. This Supreme Person, the source of all material and spiritual worlds and everything within them, the creator of all living beings, is the original personality and all qualities, personality traits, and all energies emanate from Him.
Far, far, beyond this world, far, far, beyond this material universe, exists the unlimited, eternal home of the Supreme, All-attractive Personality, Krishna.
Within this most wonderful place, free from time, free from envy, free from any imperfections, the eternal loving associates of Krishna serve Him in limitless varieties of pastimes full of beauty and exchanges of the sweetness of spiritual love.
The material world we live in is the temporary dark shadow of the unimaginable, bright spiritual dimension of all-satisfying loving relationships. Living in this dark place, we do not see Krishna who always desires to have us return home.
If I want to go from intense darkness into intense light, I must prepare. If I want to know and love the Supreme All-attractive Person, I must sincerely and humbly ask Him for help, and He will respond and lead me home.
This material world is the world of duality in contrast with the oneness of the absolute realm. The world of duality is composed of matter and spirit, whereas the absolute world is complete spirit without any tinge of the material qualities. In the dual world everyone is falsely trying to become the master of the world, whereas in the absolute world the Lord is the Absolute Lord and all others are His absolute servitors. In the world of duality everyone is envious of all others, and death is inevitable due to the dual existence of matter and spirit.
The Supreme Spirit (Krishna) is the source of completely satisfying activities or pastimes which give ever-increasing happiness to those who love Him and live with Him in his eternal and transcendental abode. His transcendental home is inhabited by the majority of eternal living beings who each have their individual loving relationship with Him and eternally are personally enjoying with Him.
Those unfortunate living beings caught in the material dimension are transmigrating from body to body, having forgotten their loving relationship with the Supreme All-attractive Person, and have accepted the world of embodiment and duality as their home.
The Supreme Person desires that these lost children and eternal associates give up their suffering position of accepting material bodies and return home to enjoy ever increasing happiness in His world of perfect loving relationships where suffering does not exist.
As a living being, I have limited independence. I can choose to exist in the material or spiritual world. In the material world of duality, there is death because all living beings who exist there, have to exist within a temporary material body which always succumbs to death.
In the spiritual world, all living beings exist eternally, there is no death because everyone and everything is non-dual spiritual form. Each living being is his form, each form is unique with perfect individuality, personality, and characteristics, made of eternity, knowledge, and spiritual bliss. The function or life of everyone there is loving service to the Supreme Person in unlimited varieties of personal exchanges of love with Him.
Consider all the relationships you have or have had in your current lifetime. How many times did you experience complete satisfaction, full happiness, and total fulfillment in friendship and love? How long did it last?
How many times did you experience loneliness, anger, frustration, jealousy, envy, disappointment, embarrassment, rejection, boredom, or other unpleasant feelings in your dealings with others? How much time passed feeling this way?
In the spiritual world, I experience unlimited, ever-increasing intense loving emotions within the exceptionally newer and fresher exchanges of love with the Supreme All-attractive Person. Here, the only thought is of Krishna, of pleasing Him, of seeing Him, of serving Him, of bringing pleasure to Him, of playing with Him, of hearing His words, of loving Him.
